Dolly Parton sings for Great Smoky Mountains National Park

Dolly Parton, Ambassador for the 75th Anniversary of Great Smoky Mountains National Park, will be mistress of ceremonies at an exclusive performance of the musical "Sha-Kon-O-Hey! Land of Blue Smoke" at DP's Celebrity Theatre at Dollywood this Saturday, May 9, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available online at www.FriendsoftheSmokies.org for $75 each which includes Dollywood admission and parking on Saturday, May 9th.  All proceeds benefit Friends of Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Dolly has said of her role as 75th Anniversary Ambassador, "The Smoky Mountains have inspired me and my music since I was a little girl. They touch my soul and lift my spirits. Let's celebrate America's most popular national park, but most especially, join me in making sure its magnificent beauty thrives for generations to come."

For this exclusive performance, Dolly will deliver a special musical greeting and thank everyone for their support of Friends of the Smokies and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

"Sha-Kon-O-Hey!" is derived from the Cherokee word for the Smokies which means "land of blue smoke". Dolly wrote all eight songs featured in this musical journey that takes audiences to the heart of the Smoky Mountains.

Come for a day of fun at Dollywood, then enjoy the evening with Dolly & Friends of the Smokies. While Friends of the Smokies began in 1993, and the Park was created in 1934, this is the first time that Dolly Parton will take the stage to help raise money for Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
