As most of you know, Coca Cola launched the, “America is Your Park” campaign to encourage Americans to get out and take advantage of our National Parks! They were rewarding the Park with the highest amount of votes a $100,000 recreation grant. Of course we wanted the Smokies to win but, unfortunately we were passed by Bear Head Lake State Park. Bear Head won the grant with over 1.6 million votes and The Smoky Mountains came in second place right behind.
Although the Smokies didn’t win, there were a lot of parks across America that have benefitted from Coca Cola’s fund raising. A thank you goes out to all voters from Coca Cola and here are the totals from their website. “You donated nearly 500,000 My Coke Rewards points and over $25,000 through direct donations to the National Park Foundation. In addition, Coca-Cola also donated $200,000 to the National Park Foundation and $100,000 to Bear Head Lake State Park. Overall, Coca-Cola donated more than $500,000 in grants to national, state and local parks across the country this summer for new equipment such as bikes and kayaks, and the restoration and construction of activity areas.”
