There are two upcoming 5K races in Pigeon Forge that are both for a great cause. The first 5K is called Preserving the Mountain in Me on April 16 where all proceeds benefit the education programs of Keep Sevier Beautiful. The course features the beauty of the Greenway in Pigeon Forge. All participants are welcome to run or walk the 5K course. The race will begin at the Coty of Pigeon Forge Parking lot and run south on Teaster Lane to Old Mill Road. The course runs to Butler street to the Pigeon Forge Greenway and back to the city parking lot. Early entry fees are $20 by April 10 and runner/walkers will receive a race T-shirt with entry. The next 5K race is the Smoky Mountain Area Rescue Ministries’ third annual 5K May Rescue Run on May 7. This race benefits the poor and needy of Sevier County. SMARM is inviting the community to get on their feet again this year and make a difference for their neighbors who are struggling to survive. The course takes participants out Veterans Boulevard and back with a challenging hill and fast downhill finish. Runners from the past two years have commented on how beautiful the run is as you return to the finish line with a beautiful view of the mountains.
