Great Smoky Mountains National Park is one of the world’s most beautiful places to take in everything the great outdoors has to offer. During the annual Wilderness Wildlife Week events in Pigeon Forge, you’ll have a chance to learn about the fauna, flora and folks who call this rustic region home.
This year’s 25th Annual Wilderness Wildlife Week takes place
January 24 through January 31, 2015
, and is based at the new LeConte Center in Pigeon Forge. This week-long event features a series of free, family-friendly activities designed to educate budding and experienced outdoorspeople and instill a love of nature in all those who attend.

is an interesting introduction to the national park’s natural and human history. During the course of the week, participants can attend a wide variety special sessions, seminars and workshops to learn more about the wilderness and wildlife in the Great Smoky Mountains. Additionally, participants can lace up their hiking boots for a number of walks through the national park -- ranging from easy treks to see frozen winter waterfalls to strenuous climbs for experienced hikers.
Nature lovers can hear lectures on topics ranging from Smoky Mountain history and fly-fishing to plant and animal habitation. Music lovers will enjoy tunes performed by authentic Smoky Mountain musicians at AppalachiaFest. There will be many special events for children and families alike, with hikes through the Smokies ranging from peaceful strolls to demanding, multi-mile voyages; storytelling, fishing, music, photography and more.
